A West Des Moines man was arrested Friday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a June incident in which he allegedly placed a digital tracking device on his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle.

Jared William Lee Alderman, 27, of West Des Moines was charged with stalking-using technological device.

According to court records, Alderman allegedly hid the digital tracker “underneath the passenger side trim on the floorboard of her vehicle” on June 29, and it “was activated under the defendant’s Apple ID account on the same day.”

The victim found the device and “felt terrorized, frightened and intimidated by the tracking
of her location,” according to court records. She “had just exited a relationship with” Alderman.

A warrant for Alderman’s arrest was ordered Dec. 19 in Dallas County District Court and served Dec. 20. Alderman is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 30 in Dallas County District Court.
