
A West Des Moines man was arrested early Thursday after allegedly disturbing the peace outside some townhomes before entering one of them and allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
Joshua Allen Springer, 35, of 900 67th St., West Des Moines, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault and disorderly conduct-fighting or violent behavior.
The incident began about 1 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of 67th Street, where a caller to the West Des Moines Police Department reported that Springer was allegedly yelling outside the townhomes, “causing undue stress to” the neighbors, according to court records.
Officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded and determined that Springer allegedly “knowingly, willingly and unlawfully assaulted his live-in girlfriend, causing injuries,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim injuries “causing her lips and ears to bleed” as well as “a red mark on the right side of her face and redness around her neck,” according to court records.
Springer is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 25 in Dallas County District Court.
Springer was arrested April 3 in Perry on charges of third-degree harassment, fifth-degree criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia. The case is pending in Dallas County District Court. He was arrested in Woodward in December 2021 on a charge of assault causing bodily injury. The case is pending in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of fourth-degree criminal mischief in 2018 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2015 in Warren County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in 2012 in Dallas County District Court.
