A West Des Moines pair was arrested Thursday afternoon when they allegedly revealed their stash of about one-quarter pound of marijuana to law enforcement.

Ronald Michael Moore, 26, of 8601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, was charged with controlled substance violation and failure to affix drug stamp.

Heather Aleida Joan Lockhart, 24, of 8601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, was charged with controlled substance violation and failure to affix drug stamp.

The incident began about 2:45 p.m. Thursday in the 8600 block of Westown Parkway, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon their arrival, the officer determined “that there was not a domestic,” but they allegedly “detected an odor of raw marijuana” during the course of their interaction, according to court records.

“When asked about the odor, Moore walked officers to the master bedroom” and “pointed out a shoe box containing two ziplock bags containing suspected marijuana
(approximately 100 grams), digital scale and packaging,” according to court records.

Additionally, an AK-47 assault rifle “was observed on a TV stand in close proximity to the marijuana,” according to court records.

Moore is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 14 in Dallas County District Court.

Moore was convicted of reckless use of firearm in 2019 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of reckless use of firearm in 2020 in Polk County District Court.

Lockhart is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 14 in Dallas County District Court.
