A West Des Moines man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly assaulting his roommate in the home.

Durrell Marquise Davis, 19, of 1260 S. Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of S. Jordan Creek Parkway, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Davis allegedly “punched the victim twice in the head,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “bruising to the left side of his face and left ear,” according to court records.

Davis “admitted to punching the victim” and told the officers that “the punch knocked the victim to the ground,” according to court records.

Davis is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 30 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
