A West Des Moines woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly assaulting an Altoona woman in Adel.
Sarah Mae Hampton, 46, of 1916 Vine St., West Des Moines, was charged with assault and interference with official acts.
The incident began about 12:15 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Ninth Street in Adel, where an officer of the Adel Police Department tried “to prevent” Hampton’s “making physical contact” with the victim after Hampton allegedly “went towards” the victim “in an aggressive manner,” according to court records.
Hampton allegedly intended to put the victim “in fear of immediate physical contact that would be painful, injurious or offensive to her,” according to court records.
Hampton was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to her release on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for a pretrial conference May 26 in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
