A West Des Moines woman was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly striking her boyfriend in the face while arguing about a cell phone.

Jenna Rae Christensen, 37, of 8302 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the 8300 block of Westown Parkway, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, Christensen and the victim “got into a physical altercation over the victim’s phone,” and Christensen allegedly “struck the victim in the face, causing a cut” and “leaving the victim with a bloody lip.”

Christensen is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 29 in Dallas County District Court.

Christensen was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in February in Boone County District Court.

  1. Additionally, there was no first domestic conviction or anything of that nature. I was arrested on a false charge, without being heard (or just being plain ignored) when asked if I had any injuries. This is what happens, defamation of character being the very LEAST hurtful on the list of things one who stays with an abuser, and even covers for him or her, must endure. It’s painful enough that I’ve been lied to by the “love of my life” whom I sacrificed everything for. Now I must figure out what to do, where to go from here, as I’ve consequentially been isolated and left for all but dead (and the hits keep coming). I don’t know what I did for him to hate me so much and break every vow he made-whether he was on drugs or whatever he was doing, there’s no excuse whatsoever for any of this horrible state I’m in. I’d love to see more objective news on common sense being used, or not; perhaps articles about the deeper issues people in our communities are dealing with. We can believe what we are told, or look deeper given what remains of our own intuition, respectful and critical thinking…and judgment. Thanks so much for reading.
