A West Des Moines woman was arrested Sunday night after she allegedly assaulted a West Des Moines man as he was leaving the residence.
Veronica Guillen Garcia, 26, of 8655 Bridgewood Blvd., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 6 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 8900 block of Cascade Avenue in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Guillen Garcia allegedly “slapped him and hit him with an open fist” and “scratched him,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “red abrasions and marks on his upper chest and back” and “scratches consistent with fingernails,” according to court records.
Guillen Garcia is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 29 in Dallas County District Court.
