SPENCER — Perry senior Noah Wilkening had his prep golf career stopped Thursday, just two strokes shy of an appearance at the Class 3A State Tournament. Wilkening fired a 39-39–78 at the Spencer Golf and Country Club, only to narrowly miss out on one of the state qualifying spots.

MOC-Floyd Valley won the team competition with a 310, with Webster City shooting 314 to also move on. Gilbert was third at 318, with Nevada (324) and Spencer (325) also in action.
