The National Weather Service (NWS) in Des Moines has issued a wind advisory for the Perry area to remain in effect Monday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The NWS predicts sustained northwest wind speeds of 25 to 35 mph and peak gusts of 45 mph.

The strong northwest winds might affect high-profile vehicles, making travel hazardous, the NWS said. Lightweight, unsecured objects, such as Christmas decorations and other holiday items, might be blown around, and residents are encouraged to secure all holiday decorations.
