Winifred ‘Winnie’ Rounds of Maryville, Missouri

Winifred “Winnie” Rounds, 84, of Maryville, Missouri, and formerly of Perry passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, April 4 at 1 p.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry, with visitation that evening from 4-6 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa, Wednesday, April 5 at 9:30 a.m.

Winifred “Winnie” Joan Rounds was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Boston to John Chipriano and Winifred Beatrice (Cuneo) Gallo.

She graduated from high school in Boston and then went to Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Winnie was united in marriage to Robert Frank Rounds at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, on Aug. 29, 1964. After their marriage they moved to Iowa.

She worked at the Woodward State Hospital as administrative assistant and in the Iowa Department of Elections.

Winnie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry, St. Pat’s Regina Guild and Perry Elks Lodge. She was involved with the Perry Little Theater Group, World Day of Prayer, Crop Walk and Main Street Saturday Night at St. Patrick School.

She enjoyed the fine arts, especially theater, was an avid reader, loved to shop, eat out, lead hymns and lector.

Winnie traveled to London, Alaska and other various parts of the U.S.

Winnie was very proud of her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren were very precious to her.

She always had a smile on her face and was very thoughtful and was very quick to give a compliment and show concern for others. Winnie was always a very classy lady with very unique tastes.

In death she rejoins her husband, Bob; parents, John and Winifred Gallo; and a brother, Kenneth Vincent Gallo.

Left to cherish Winnie’s memory are her daughters, Christine (Aaron) McClain of Dixon, Missouri, and Jennifer (Anthony) Winans of Maryville; grandchildren, Ezekiel (Megan) Winans, Christopher Winans and Jozy Winans; and great-grandchildren, Nadia Lou Winans and Lettie Dru Winans.

She will be missed but is now reunited with loved ones.
