The National Weather Service office in Johnston has issued a winter weather advisory for the Perry area until noon Thursday, with 40 mph winds, up to three inches of snow and up to two-tenths inches of accumulated ice forecast.
Snow, freezing rain and sleet are all possible, the NWS said.
Power outages and tree damage are also possible due to the ice. Travel may become difficult, with patchy, blowing snow significantly reducing visibility. The hazardous
conditions could impact the evening commute Wednesday and the morning commute Thursday.
Along with Dallas County, the winter weather advisory is in effect in Sac, Calhoun, Webster, Hamilton, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Jasper, Poweshiek, Cass, Adair and Madison.
