Wetu Wella Sayeh, 21, of West Des Moines was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Saturday on a charge of assault with intent to inflict serious injury.

A West Des Moines woman was arrested on a warrant Saturday in connection with an incident in which she allegedly punched, bit and tore the wig from the head of another West Des Moines woman.

Wetu Wella Sayeh, 21, of 8925 Cascade Ave., West Des Moines, was charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury.

According to court records, the alleged assault occurred Sept. 22nd about 1 a.m. in the 6400 block of Mills Civic Parkway, where Sayeh was operating a motor vehicle and got into an argument with the victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

In the course of the dispute, Sayeh “stopped her vehicle in the middle of the roadway, exited via the driver’s-side door, walked around to the passenger side” and allegedly proceeded to “punch the victim in the face and body” and “bite the victim on the arm twice,” according to court records.

Sayeh allegedly then “physically removed the victim from the vehicle by dragging her out by her hair and while in the process,” Sayeh “ripped the victim’s wig completely off,” according to court records.

Sayeh then fled “the scene in the vehicle as the victim clung to the door, eventually leaving the victim lying in the roadway,” according to court records.

A warrant for Sayeh’s arrest was ordered Sept. 29 in Dallas County District Court and served Oct. 2. Sayeh was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to posting a $2,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 12 in Dallas County District Court.
