Woodward Food Pantry now open second, fourth Saturdays

WOODWARD, Iowa — With the Perry Food Pantry seeing more and more customers every week, Perry-area residents with food insecurity are urged to try out the new Woodward Community Food Pantry.

Located in the basement of the Woodward United Methodist Church at 108 W. Fifth St. in Woodward, the pantry is open on the second Saturday of each month from 9-11 a.m. and on the fourth Saturday of each month from 2-4 p.m.

The Rev. Sandy Cannon, pastor of the Woodward United Methodist Church, and volunteer Mike Green of Woodward said the pantry has caught on since its soft opening in June.

Monetary donations for the pantry are accepted at the E Bank in Woodward and via Paypal, and food donations are accepted at the E Bank and the Woodward Public Library.

Donation items currently needed include:

  • Toilet paper
  • Canned Mandarin oranges
  • Chili with meat
  • Cheeseburger Helper
  • Vegetable oil
  • Au gratin potatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • Breakfast cereal
