Zahns of Perry to play in ‘The Fantastiks’ at Boone playhouse

Several members of the acting Zahn family of of Perry will perform in “The Fantasticks” Feb. 28, March 1, 2, 7 and 8 at TK’s Event Center in Boone.

Perry-area drama lovers will remember the acting Zahns from last summer’s Perry Community Theater production of “The Trial of Goldilocks,” which featured parents Drew Zahn and Debi Zahn and seven of their 16 children.

“‘The Fantasticks’ is the longest-running show in the history of Broadway,” said Director Susan Herrick. “Our cast and orchestra has worked diligently to prepare a show with memorable music, romantic moments, suspense, laughter and tears. If you have ever fallen in love, raised children or been in a relationship that withstands the test of time, you’ll love The Fantasticks!”

Sharing directorial duties with Herrick is Music Director Pamela Webster. Orchestra members are David Howell (piano), Katie Quandt (harp) and Ryan Kokjohn (bass). Cast members are Sharla Charlton (The Mute), Michele Jacobson (Hucklebee), Christopher Levi (El Gallo), Gershom Levi (Mortimer), David Michael (Bellomy), Abigail Zahn (Luisa), Bryan Zahn (Matt) and Drew Zahn (Henry).

The Boone Community Theater will present the Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt Broadway hit in dinner-theater format, with dinner beginning at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. show. John Greiner of Boone’s Whistle Stop Restaurant will cater the meal.

Seats for “The Fantastiks” are $35. Dinner Theatre Tickets for March 7 and March 8 must be reserved by March 4 and may be reserved at www.boonecommunitytheatre.org or at 515-303-0393.

Some show-only seats may be available for this weekend and next for $15 per adult and $7.50 per student. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m. on each date. TK’s Event Center is located at 1805 Mamie Eisenhower St.
