In the early morning hours of March 2, 2017, John H. Ross went to heaven be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty (Hawk) Ross; his brother, Ned; his three children, Michael Ross, Maria (Ross) Knuth and husband, Paul, Nancy (Ross) Holmgren and husband, Bertie; his eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda, Gretchen, Jessica, Joshua, Shaye, Leif and Lukas; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Merrill Ross and Bessie (Reiste) Ross; and his brother, Robert.

Following graduation from high school, John graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s in agriculture. He then served in the U.S. Air Force and was a lifelong member of the American Legion. John farmed near Minburn, Iowa, for 50 years, before retiring to Littleton, Colo.

John was enthusiastic about fishing, wildlife conservation, American Indians and U.S. Civil War history. He was greatly loved by his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 9 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
