Patricia Krueger, 84, of Dawson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Patricia Anne Krueger was born Feb. 17, 1940, in Winterset, Iowa, to John Anthony and Katherine Genevive (Bruns) Melroy.

She attended County School Colfax No. 2 and the Adel schools, graduating with the Class of 1958.

Patty was united in marriage to Roger John Krueger at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee on July 11, 1959.

Patty worked at Manny Chevrolet in Des Moines and then was a homemaker for a number of years before going back to work as a lunch aid at the Dawson school, at Moews in Perry and selling Avon around Dawson for many years. She also worked as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Dawson and as the Dawson City Clerk.

Patty never met a stranger, and all the Dawson kids would run off the school bus into the Post Office where they knew there was a piece of candy waiting for them in the candy dish she had on the counter.

Everyone knew Patty, and she would always stop to talk with everyone she ran into. With Patty there was never a quick trip to the store.

In death she rejoins her husband, Roger Krueger; her parents, John and Genevive Melroy; son, Roger Krueger Jr.; daughter, Theresa Krueger; and brother, John E. Melroy.

Left to cherish Patty’s memory are her children, Doug (Theresa) Krueger, Melody Sheehy and Tony Krueger; sisters, Katherine Book and Marjorie Van Mourik; and grandchildren, Bridgette, Josh (Emily), Cody, Jason, Chelsea, T. J., Ryley and Cam.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 12 from 6-8 p.m. at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory in Perry. The service will be held Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
