Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn today released a statement about the July 14 beating of Mulika Vinson of Perry.

According to Vaughn, Perry Police arrested three people Monday on charges of willful injury. Arrest warrants were served at 1007 Dewey Ave. in Perry to Danielle Abang-Ntuen, 22, Beatrice Abang-Ntuen, 19, and Wonetah Einfeldt, 44, all of Perry.

The arrests were in connection with an assault reported July 14. The suspects went to Vinson’s house at 1611 W. Fourth St. in Perry and confronted Vinson. They allegedly knocked her to the ground and “repeatedly punched her about the face and body, causing injuries to the victim’s head, legs and torso,” Vaughn said.

A witness captured part of the altercation on video.

Beatrice Abang-Ntuen resisted arrest, Vaughn said.

“She attempted to shut the door on the officers as they blocked it from closing. Officers made entry, and Beatrice continued to resist and threatened to punch the officers,” he said. Abang-Ntuen was then charged with interference with official acts and assault on an officer.

Vaughn said a fourth person, Alena Karels, was also at the apartment and was arrested on charges of assault on an officer, fifth-degree criminal mischief and interference with official acts.

“Karels attempted to assist Beatrice in blocking the doorway,” Vaughn said. “Once the officers gained entry, Karels failed follow orders. She then kicked one of the officers in the chest and attempted to strike him several times with her fists before she was handcuffed. During the assault, the officer received minor cuts on his elbow. She also damaged the officer’s microphone cord and shirt. Karels was referred to juvenile court and released that night.”

The three adult suspects were taken to the Perry Police Department and later transferred to the Dallas County Jail.
