Keeping Iowa open for business, a crew with the Perry Public Works Department used Tuesday’s perfect weather to bust up and remove some old concrete in the 1200 block of Pattee Street.
The original purpose of the concrete strip, which paralleled the sidewalk on the south side of the city parking lot, is long forgotten except my the city’s elders, but the pad might date from the days when cars could exit the lot steeply onto Pattee Street.
Using a skid-steer loader with a hydraulic hammer attached and a front end loader, the city crew demolished the old stonework in short order and hauled away the debris.
