A Des Moines man was arrested in Perry Monday on a warrant for assault and false imprisonment in connection with an incident in October in Perry.
Sergio Antonio Olvera, 26, of 3305 S.E. 22nd St., Des Moines, was arrested on a Dallas County warrant for first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and false imprisonment and on a charge of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana.
The incident began about 3:45 p.m. Monday, when an officer of the Perry Police Department made contact with Olvera, who was walking in the 2000 block of Evelyn Street.
According to court records, the officer recognized Olvera as having an active arrest warrant for domestic abuse assault and false imprisonment in connection with an Oct. 12 incident in the 1900 block of Evelyn Street.
In the October incident, Olvera allegedly pulled the female victim “by her hair, physically blocked her path from leaving the basement and pushed her onto a bed,” telling her “that she was going to spend the day with him” and that he “wanted to have sex, but she said no,” according to court records.
Olvera then allegedly “held her down and hit her in the rib area,” according to court records.
A third person “eventually came downstairs,” and the victim “was able to leave the house,” according to court records.
In the course of Monday’s interaction, Olvera told the officer “he had marijuana on his person without being asked,” according to court records. A search of Olvera’s person disclosed a container in his pocket with 1 gram of marijuana.
Olvera is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond He is scheduled for arraignment on the assault and imprisonment charges Dec. 10 in Dallas County District Court. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the possession charge Dec. 28 in Dallas County District Court.
Olvera was twice convicted of first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana in 2015 in Dallas County District Court.
