A U.S. Postal Service vehicle accidentally struck a pedestrian and her dog Saturday in rural De Soto, injuring the pedestrian and causing the death of her dog.
The incident occurred about 1 p.m. in the 22100 block of Maple Ridge, according to public safety radio traffic.
The circumstances of the accident are under investigation at this hour.
The victim was transported to the hospital by private vehicle, according to radio traffic.
The Iowa State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, De Soto First Responders, Van Meter Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS responded.
