Tim Farmer of Perry has been elected the new president of the Perry-Area Emergency Food Council, popularly known as the Perry Food Pantry.
The election of Farmer occurred at the board’s March meeting, with outgoing Pantry Board President Steve Golay receiving high praise for his service during the pandemic.
“Thanks, Steve, for your courage to be our president this last year,” said Pantry Site Manager Lou Hoger. “It was quite a journey.”
Hoger said the Perry Food Pantry served 446 households in 2020. About 73% of households that used the pantry service came between one and three times, he said, and another 20% of households used the pantry four and six times.
“This means that 93% of people who use the food pantry do so a limited number of times, and then return to self-sufficiency,” Hoger said.
