An SUV struck the south side of the Hamlin Bell apartment complex at 2023 Willis Ave. Thursday about 5:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported. The Dallas County EMS responded and examined the driver at the scene.
The circumstances of the mishap are under investigation at this hour by the Perry Police Department.
The Ford SUV appeared to do significant damage to the wall’s brickwork, a window casement and an air conditioning unit.
The driver told police that her “mind was occupied” when the vehicle struck the south wall, causing an estimated $25,000 damage, according to public safety radio traffic.
The $7 million, 36-unit Hamlin-Bell Apartments, built on the site of the former junior high school in Perry, opened in 2017.
