Inclement weather has forced the cancelation of Tuesday evening activities in Perry schools, with a winter weather advisory in effect until 6 p.m.

An ongoing winter storm will continue to bring a wintry mix into the Perry area, with snow
and light freezing precipitation coupled with strong northwest winds, gusting from 30 to 45 mph. Travel is impacted as the light rain changes to a frozen mix in the Perry area.

Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks announced the cancelation of all games and evening activities for Tuesday, and the Des Moines Area Community College Perry Van Kirk Career Academy will close at 4 p.m. Tuesday, and no evening classes will be held, according to DMACC Perry Director Eddie Diaz.

Along with Dallas County, the winter weather advisory is in effect in Story, Guthrie, Polk and Cass counties, with the cities of Ames, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines and Atlantic affected along with Perry.
