Adam Leigh Livingston, 45, of De Soto was arrested Monday on a charge of second-offense OWI.

A De Soto man who accidentally shot himself in the hand last month in Adel was arrested Monday on suspicion of drunk driving.

Adam Leigh Livingston, 35, of 812 Dallas St., De Soto, was charged with second-offense OWI.

The incident began about 4 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of W. Elm Street in De Soto, where a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff conducted a welfare check on a Jeep Cherokee on a report that Livingston “was possibly out driving intoxicated in De Soto,” according to court records.

The deputy located the vehicle and made contact with Livingston, who presented with “a strong odor of an unknown alcohol beverage emitting from his breath,” according to court records.

His performance on field sobriety tests “showed significant impairment,” and a preliminary breath test “indicated results above a .08,” according to court records.

Livingston is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 30 in Dallas County District Court.

Livingston was arrested Nov. 9 and charged with child endangerment after allegedly discharging a handgun with a minor child nearby. He entered a plea of not guilty Dec. 1 in Dallas County District Court and is scheduled for a pretrial conference Jan. 5. He was convicted of first-offense OWI in 2018.
