A Perry man was killed early Saturday when his vehicle left the roadway of Iowa Highway 141 east of Bouton and struck a power pole before coming to rest in a corn field.
Josue Curiel, 22, of Perry was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a statement released Saturday afternoon by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.
The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Iowa Highway 141 near R Avenue, where Curiel’s 2005 Chevy Impala “struck a power pole and rolled multiple times,” according to the statement.
Curiel was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation.
“The cause and circumstances of the accident remain under investigation,” the sheriff’s statement said.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Perry Police Department, Woodward Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS responded.
