About a dozen Perry homes are without electric power at this hour after a power pole at the southwest corner of Eight and Dewey streets was sheared off about 8:15 p.m. Thursday when a westbound vehicle left the roadway.
The Perry Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, Perry First Responders and Dallas County EMS attended the scene of the single-vehicle incident.
The cause of the mishap is under investigation at this hour. The number of occupants in the vehicle and the extent of injuries is unknown at this time. At least one person was transported to Dallas County Hospital.
Alliant Energy is reportedly on scene and working to restore power to the residences.
