A vehicle left the roadway west of Granger Saturday morning and landed upside down in Beaver Creek. The cause of the accident is unknown at this hour. There were no apparent injuries to the driver, who was alone at the time of the mishap.
Dense fog obscured the intersection of 190th Street and W Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m., when a passing motorist called the Dallas County Sheriff’s office to report the upside down vehicle.
The caller said the driver emerged from the vehicle apparently uninjured and then reentered the vehicle.
Granger first responders and the Granger Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident. They were assisted by Grimes Fire and Rescue, Dallas County EMS and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.
As the dim sun sought to pierce the thick fog, a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff could be seen administering a field sobriety test to the driver of the vehicle.
Wilmar Rolando Escalante Ortiz, 30, of 916 Northwestern Ave. in Ames was arrested at the scene on charges of OWI, failure to have a valid license and failure to maintain control.
