Perry point guard Grace Marburger passes out to Molly Lutmer on the wing during first half action against ADM Friday.

A three-game losing skid to ADM ended Friday as Perry improved to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in Raccoon River Conference play with a 51-42 victory. The loss dropped the Tigers to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in RRC action.

The Perry girls started with a hot hand, with Grace Marburger sinking two of her five 3-pointers in the first few minutes of play. ADM trailed, 18-13, after one quarter and faced a 28-25 halftime deficit but stayed within range thanks to the play of guard Delany Bertman, who scored 10 of her 14 points in the first half.

ADM’s speed tested the Perry attack at times, but the Jayettes appeared to be a half-step quicker and were the more aggressive team with the ball. The result was 20 fouls called against the guests and just nine against the hosts, allowing Perry to finish 13-o-21 at the foul line while ADM was 3-of-4.

Perry played consistently through the third quarter, fending off any ADM charge and holding a 37-31 lead entering the final frame. The visitors managed to claw to within four points, at 41-37, midway through the fourth quarter, but Perry moved the ball well while running clock and converted just enough at the line and on open opportunities down the stretch to widen their lead en route to the victory.

Sydney Bertman led ADM with 16 points, with Delany Bertman’s 14 aiding the Tiger cause.

Marburger led all scorers with 21 points, with Emma Olejniczak adding a season-best 13 points while Jo Diw contributed 12 points and Molly Lutmer five.

Perry will conclude the pre-holiday portion of their season Tuesday with a visit from Winterset. A variety of offerings and activities will be held along with the game.
