An Adel woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting her husband and driving her SUV into a Van Meter woman’s garage door.
Chree Nichole Hufford, 42, of 27090 Eagle Crest Dr., Adel, was charged with domestic abuse assault, child endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief.
The incident began about 10:45 p.m. Sunday in the 27000 block of Eagle Crest Drive, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
A deputy made contact with the male victim, who said that during the course of a dispute, Hufford allegedly “picked up a plastic container with balloons inside and threw the container at him,” and “the container hit him in the back of the head while he was on the phone with 9-1-1 dispatchers,” according to court records.
A further incident occurred in the 5300 block of Kelsey Drive in Van Meter, where Hufford allegedly “entered her vehicle and drove it into the victim’s garage door, causing $7,000 in damage while having her children, ages 1 and 4, with her in the vehicle at the time she rammed the garage door,” according to court records.
A neighbor produced a doorbell video for officers of the Van Meter Police Department that allegedly showed Hufford’s 2021 Kia Sorento “striking the garage door and then the horn on the vehicle being activated repeatedly,” according to court records.
Hufford “admitted to being at the residence, knocking on the door and causing a disturbance,” but “she denied striking the garage door.”
Hufford is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,300 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 21 in Dallas County District Court.

Poor lady! Cheating husband and back-stabbing family photographer will make you go temporarily insane. I don’t feel bad for the man cheating on his wife and the photographer whot has taken their family photos for years, watching the kids grow and then sleeps with husband. She JUST took their photos 6 months ago. THEY are the real problem. Hope she gets a judge that sees she only made a mistake.
