NORWALK — The Perry girls stopped a two-game skid and improved to 5-2 overall with a 52-37 non-conference win over Norwalk Tuesday.

A pressing defense disarmed the Warrior offense, while an aggressive offensive attack helped send the Jayettes to the 15-point triumph. Norwalk fell to 1-6 overall with the setback.

The hosts held a 14-11 lead after one period of play with a quick basket pushing their advantage to 16-11, but Perry forced a pair of turnovers and went on an 11-3 run to grab a 22-19 lead. The half ended with the Jayettes holding a 33-26 lead, and despite cold shooting in the third frame the guests were able to take a 44-35 lead into the final quarter thanks to a defense that harassed the Warriors into an unofficial 23 turnovers.

Neither team lit the scoreboard in impressive fashion in the final eight minutes, but with Norwalk unable to score until 80 seconds remained in the game Perry was able to slowly widen their edge en route to the victory.
