Jeff Lee Altmayer, 57, of Ankeny faces multiple charges of kidnapping, sexual abuse, enticing a child, enticing a minor, impersonating a public official and other charges stemming from a 2016 crime spree.

DES MOINES — New charges have been filed against Jeff Lee Altmayer, 57, of Ankeny, who was arrested Nov. 16, 2016, and charged with three counts of enticing a minor, one count of impersonating a public official, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of prescription drug or device without a prescription.

The charges stemmed from an incident in Onawa, Iowa, in Monona County in which Altmayer attempted to lure a 6-year-old girl into his vehicle by offering her $100.

Further investigation into Altmayer by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and other Iowa law enforcement agencies revealed he had committed crimes of the same manner across the state.

As a result of these investigations, Altmayer has now been charged in two other jurisdictions. He faces criminal charges in Jasper County as a result of an Aug. 17, 2016, incident in Colfax in which he is alleged to have committed one count of first-degree kidnapping, one count of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of enticing a child.

Altmayer also faces charges in Grundy County from an Aug. 2, 2016, incident in which he is charged with three counts of enticing a child and one count of enticing a minor.

The investigation of Altmayer is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming, according to the DCI. The Area Prosecutions Division of the Iowa Attorney General’s office  is handling the prosecution of Altmayer.
