Tyler Jacob Thompson, 21, of West Des Moines was arrested early Sunday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A West Des Moines man was arrested early Sunday after he allegedly assaulted his roommate in their West Des Moines apartment.

Tyler Jacob Thompson, 21, of 6565 Wistful Vista Dr., #7301, West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

Thompson allegedly assaulted his roommate “by punching him in the face, causing the victim’s lips to be swollen and bloody,” according to court records.

Thompson is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of his initial appearance Monday in Dallas County District Court.

Thompson was arrested on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in December 2017 after allegedly assaulting his mother “by pushing her and later biting her arm,” according to court records. The charge was later dismissed in Palo Alto District Court.

Thompson was arrested on charges of going armed with intent and first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in August 2019 when he allegedly “assaulted his live-in girlfriend,” including “walking towards the victim with a large kitchen knife in hand and making a threatening gesture towards the victim,” according to court records. The case is pending in Clay County District Court.
