Democrat Congressional candidate Cindy Axne, left, and Deidre DeJear, Democrat candidate for Iowa Secretary of State, will visit Perry in the next few days.

Democrat candidates for state and federal offices will continue their regular passes through Perry in the next two weeks, with Congressional candidate Cindy Axne meeting and greeting voters at the Perry Perk coffeehouse Saturday, Oct. 6 from 2-3:30 p.m.

Axne is in a tight race with Rep. David Young, the Van Meter Republican who seeks a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives for Iowa’s third Congressional district.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity to grab a cup of coffee and visit with Cindy about her vision in representing Iowa in Washington, D.C.,” said Monica Peitz, spokesperson for the Perry-Area Democrats.

Deidre DeJear, the Democrat’s candidate for Iowa Secretary of State, will be in Perry Thursday, Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m. for a meet and greet at La Poste.

“Come and bring a friend,” Peitz said. “Take this opportunity to visit with Deidre about the importance of this elected office and the changes she will make to ensure all eligible voters can vote without hardship.”

Peitz noted a televised debate between Axne and Young will also be broadcast Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. on Iowa Public Television.

“Be sure and record that,” Peitz said. “It should be very interesting.”
