U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne will join Doug Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris, at Friday afternoon’s Get Out the Vote rally in Perry, where satellite voting is available Thursday and Friday from 2-8 p.m. at the McCreary Community Building, 1800 Pattee St. in Perry.
Emhoff, whose wife today suspended her vice presidential campaign until Monday after two members of her staff tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, will greet local voters in order to fire up supporters and volunteers as the Biden-Harris campaign heads into the final stretch.
Axne announced today a third-quarter fundraising total of more than $1.52 million with 21 days to the Nov. 3 general election. Axne’s Republican opponent, David Young of Van Meter, raised some $773,000 during the same period. Each candidate now has about $1.5 million cash on hand.
“Grab your mask and get ready,” said Perry-Area Democrats Director Monica Peitz. “We want to see your excitement to elect great Democrats up and down the ticket here in Iowa! Doug’s team will be following social-distancing and mask requirements — you know, keeping it safe!”
