The 118-year-old property at 1213 and 1215 Second St. in Perry is owned by the Edmund R. Bacon Jr. Family Trust.

A notice posted in the vacant storefront of Bacon Jewelers at 1213 Second St. in downtown Perry tells passersby the store will not reopen its Perry location following the March 21 fire in the building.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

“Sorry, we are now closed,” the unsigned placard reads. “Thank you for 58 years.” The sign refers shoppers to the Bacons’ Boone jewelry story.

The March fire began in the rear of the Bacon property at 1215 Second St. in commercial space newly rented and remodelled by Trish Roberts of Perry Floral.

The fire’s other victims, Jan and Jay Pattee of Perry, owners of Ben’s Five and Dime at 1221 Second St., said they will reopen their landmark variety store.
