Bluejay wrestlers win two of three Tuesday

Grant Battreall of Montezuma is only seconds away from being pinned by Perry's Tyler Soll in their heavyweight bout Tuesday in Woodward.

WOODWARD — A short trip to Woodward-Granger Tuesday witnessed the Perry wrestling team record a pair of victories against a lone loss.

Perry was a 54-30 winner over Montezuma and a 45-36 victor against Ogden before suffering a 54-29 setback at the hands of host W-G. In other matches, W-G topped Montezuma, 57-16, and Ogden, 45-27, with Ogden a 36-24 winner against Montezuma.

Senior heavyweight Tyler Soll finish 3-0 for the Bluejays with three wins by pinfall, with Zach Thompson 3-0 with two pins and a forfeit, with Zach Stewart also 3-0 with two pins and a forfeit.

Kaleb Olejniczak had a victory by pin and a forfeit at 113, with Hayden McFarland taking a forfeit in one match at 113 while 120-pounder Tucker Strough received a pair of forfeits.

Ever Tobar scored a decision at 138 against Ogden, against whom Stewart dropped to 132 to take his forfeit. Kyla Devilbiss received a forfeit at 132 from Montezuma, with Daniel Brinton winning by pin and by forfeit at 170 pounds to conclude the list of winning wrestlers for the Jays.

Perry will compete Friday and Saturday in Council Bluffs at the powerhouse Lewis Central Tournament. The Bluejays serve as host for the first time this season Dec. 15 when Fort Dodge St. Edmond and Carroll visit for a triangular.
