BOONE — The Perry wrestlers rebounded from an opening loss to 54-30 to Woodward-Granger to defeat ADM, 39-31, and Boone, 46-36, in a quadrangular Tuesday.
W-G finished 3-0 at the event with identical 42-39 wins over ADM and Boone, with Boone topping ADM, 46-36, in the other dual.
Third-ranked 113-pounder Kaleb Olejniczak received a forfeit from ADM but needed a total of just 36 seconds to score two pins, nailing W’G-‘s Dilynn Lewiston in 17 ticks and Boone’s Autumn Sharp in 19 seconds.
Zachary Thompson, ranked sixth at 120, was also 3-0. He pinned Tate Lettow (W-G) in 1 minute, 54 seconds, then put the shoulders of John Thome (ADM) to the mat in 3:02. He received a forfeit from Boone.
Ranked 10th at 132, Zach Stewart opened with a pin of W-G’s Jayden Dorenkamp in 2:35 before using 1:26 to pin ADM’s Eli Jones. Stewart finished 3-0 after posting an 11-2 major decision against Boone’s James Runestad.
Also 3-0 for Perry was 170-pounder Daniel Brinton, who pinned Thomas Govig (W-G) in 4:45 before scoring a 16-1 technical fall in four minutes against Noah Kahler (ADM). He was given a forfeit against Boone.
Jacob Nelson (126) pinned Wade Penick (BNE) in 3:22 and was forfeited to by W-G to finish 2-1 for the Jays, with Juan Campos (195) topping Charles Craigmile (ADM) with an 11-3 major decision and receiving a forfeit from Boone to also finish 2-1.
Cesar Ramirez (182) needed just 45 seconds to pin Boone’s Mason Murphy for a victory, with Erick Funez (152), Cole Snyder (160) and Tucker Strough (106) all collecting wins via forfeit. Perry did not compete at 138 and 220 and were unable to generate a victory at both 145 and 285.
Perry hosts Ballard, Humboldt and AC/GC Thursday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Bluejays will then compete in the Raccoon River Conference tournament at ADM Saturday.
