Bonita Garnes, 75, of Perry passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, from complications of pancreatitis.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center. Burial will follow at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center.
Bonnie was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Booneville, Iowa, to Clenn and Paula (Wineinger) Roan.
Bonnie was an artistic person who loved to spend her time with her grandkids. She was also passionate about animals.
Her favorite activity was decorating her home, especially for the holidays.
Bonnie had a sharp wit and was well known for her Irish feistiness.
Bonnie is survived by her sons, Chad (Rebecca) Garnes of South Dakota and Nick Garnes of Colorado; sisters, Linda Griffey, Mary Jo Dawson, Dixie (Paul) Pickert and Clenna Shepherd of Iowa; grandchildren, Jackson, Aiden and Evie; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Roan; brother-in-law, Terry Shepherd; and niece, Dennell Ramos.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center. Contributions may be made to the grandchildren’s education fund. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
