A burn ban has been issued for Dallas County due to dry and windy conditions, the Office of the State Fire Marshall announced Friday morning.

No outdoor burning is allowed in Dallas County until further notice, State Fire Marshall Dan Wood declared.

“Conditions in Dallas County are such that open burning constitutes a danger to life or property,” Wood said. The ban will remain in effect from Oct. 16 at 9 a.m. “until such time as (Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator) Austen Seely, representing each fire department having all or part of their fire district with Dallas County, notifies the state fire marshall that such conditions dangerous to life or property no longer exists.”

Violation of the ban on open burning is a simple misdemeanor.
