The Dallas County Public Health Department’s honorary public health pup, Captain Steve Rogers, reminds everyone that when you wear a facial covering, it should cover your nose, mouth and your chin snuggly.

Masks are not recommended for children under the age of 2 and anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Captain Steve also knows that a mask is an added layer of protection against COVID-19 but is not a substitute for social distancing.

Captain Steve also knows that you can reduce your risk of COVID-19 infection by making small changes to your routine. For instance, you could:

  • Reduce the time you spend in close contact with people outside your household.
  • Choose larger spaces where you can distance from others more easily.
  • Choose spaces with fewer people. Avoid crowded areas and wear a mask when in public.
  • Opt for outdoor spaces with air flow over indoor places.
