Mass of Christian Burial for Cecilio Mena-Mejia, 53, of Perry will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at Hastings Funeral Home, with family present from 5-7 p.m., and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Burial at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry will follow the Friday morning Mass.
Cecilio died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at his home in Perry, Iowa.
Cecilio is survived by his wife, Maria: sons, Erick, Manolo, Saul and Yordi Mendez, all of Perry; five grandchildren, Erick Damian, Alejandro, Jowell, Alondra and Aravella; father, Carlos Mejia of El Salvador; two brothers, Orlando (Julia) Mena of Perry and Felipe (Graciela) Mena of California; seven sisters, Teresa (Jose) Robles of Perry, Olivia (Glen) Turcios of El Salvador, Rosa Mena of El Salvador, Guadalupe (Eliazar) Barladez of North Carolina, Gloria (Melkin) Mena of El Salvador, Josefina (Ismael) Bermudez of Des Moines and Santos (Francisco) Marroquin of California.
Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements.
