Cletus Arch ‘Clete’ Schultz of Adel

Cletus Arch “Clete” Schultz, 77, of Adel passed away May 18, 2018, after a short, courageous battle with lymphoma.

In accordance with Clete’s wishes, a cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 23 from 4-7 p.m. at the Caldwell Parrish, McCalley Chapel at 735 S. 14th St. in Adel. A private family burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery.

Clete was born July 24, 1940, to Norman Garland and Maxine Evelyn (Brown) Schultz.

He owned Schultz Professional Auction Service for more than 44 years, delighting his auction crowds and always starting on time, “We Don’t Do Late.” He donated his auction skills to numerous organizations and charities for more than 30 years.

Clete was a go-er. He wore two hats, working simultaneously for Ash Grove Cement Company, retiring in 2011 as regional sales manager, with responsibility for quoting highway lettings for both the Iowa Department of Transportation and local government agencies.

He was inducted into the Associated General Contractors Hall of Fame in 2011.

Clete is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Nancy; daughters, Melissa (David) Stalder of Upper St. Clair, Pa., and Melinda (Scott) Kurtz of Panora; grandchildren, Alexandra Kurtz, D. J. Stalder, Michael Stalder and Jake Stalder; and his beloved buddy, Archie, his cat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Maxine Schultz; and his other buddy, King Farouk. He will join them at the end of the rainbow bridge to cross together into paradise forever.
