The Dallas County EMS hosted a drive-through information session in Perry Tuesday afternoon, with the latest information about the novel coronavirus epidemic.

The Dallas County EMS crew held the first of its two drive-through information stations Tuesday afternoon in front of the old Shopko store in Perry.

The drive-through info station provided a four-page brochure about COVID-19 from the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The brochure is available by clicking here.

Dallas County EMS Director Mike Thomason said the goal of the drive-through stations “is to allow our community members access to information from medically trained professionals if they are unable to access information at home.”

EMTs and paramedics guided each vehicle through the line, handing out the brochures explaining what to do if you become ill and providing the current isolation guidance from the IDPH.

“Our team is hopeful that this will help ease some fears and provide education,” Thomason said. “We continue to encourage everyone to stay home, but this would provide a quick way to access information that some may not have access to.”

A second drive-through information station will be available Wednesday, April 1 from 4-7 p.m. at the ADM High School parking lot at 801 Nile Kinnick Dr. S. in Adel. This is not a screening stations for individuals who believe they are ill from COVID-19.

Community members should not attend the drive-though information station if they are ill, showing symptoms of COVID-19, have been in close contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 14 days or should be self-quarantining per local and state officials’ recommendations.

If you have general questions about COVID-19 and you have access to the internet or a phone at home, visit the Iowa Department of Public Health’s website or dial 2-1-1.
