Aug. 20, 2022
- Steven Beukema of Altoona was traveling on Mills Street in Van Meter when the motorcycle he was driving was struck from the rear by a motorcycle, driven by Marvin Barraza of Urbandale. All the parties were transported by Dallas County EMS to Methodist Medical Center. Damage to Beukema’s vehicle was estimated at $1,000, and damage to Barraza’s vehicle was estimated at $500. Barraza was issued a citation for failure to stop in assured clear distance and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
Aug. 21, 2022
- Brock Beeler of Stuart was traveling northbound on Old Highway 6 near Bear Creek Road when his vehicle was struck from the rear by a vehicle, driven by John Varnum of Perry. No injuries were reported. Damage to Beeler’s vehicle was estimated at $2,500, and damage to Varnum’s vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Varnum was issued a citation for failure to stop in assured clear distance.

- Brandon Chismar, 30, of 920 Lenz Ave., Ambridge, Pennsylvania, was issued a summons to appear on the charge of possession of a controlled substance and issued a citation for speeding.
Aug. 23, 2022
- Phillip Banks, 31, of 396 Sapphire Bend, Riverdale, Georgia, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
- Phillip Dolezal, 21, of 605 State St., Dexter, was issued a summons to appear for possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a citation for defective or unauthorized muffler system and no valid driver’s license.
