March 27, 2019

  • Debra Ann Smith of 22438 Maple Ridge, Adel, was witing to turn left in the 34000 block of U.S. Highway 169 when her vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Shelley Marie Boorn of 305 Elm St., De Soto. Smith refused medical treatment, and Boorn complained of neck pain and was transported by the Dallas County EMS. Boorn was issued a citation for failure to stop in an assured distance. Damage to Smith’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000, and damage to Boorn’s vehicle was estimated at $7,000.
  • Bradley Joseph Fuller of 920 S. 11th St., Adel, was traveling south in the 32000 block of U.S. Highway 169 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to Fuller’s vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

March 28, 2019

  • Melvagene Burich of 2193 Owl Ave., Woodward, was traveling southeast in the 18000 block of Iowa Highway 141 Diagonal when her vehicle struck a deer. Burich complained of stomach pain from the seatbelt but refused medical treatment. Damage to Burich’s vehicle was estimated at $6,500.
  • Spencer Michael Benton of 105 Arlington Ave., Spencer, was traveling east in the 28000 block of 360th Street when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to Benton’s vehicle was estimated at $6,000.
  • Timothy Brooks McFarland of 3404 156th St., Urbandale, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of first-offense compulsory education violation.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
