May 2, 2017

  • Daniel Friesth of Des Moines was stopped in the 32000 block of 190th Street and waiting to turn left onto Wendover Avenue when he was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Morgan Finley of Grimes. No injuries were reported. Damage to Finley’s vehicle was estimated at $7,000, and damage to Friesth’s vehicle was estimated at $500. Finley was issued a citation for failure to stop in assured distance.
  • Timothy Horras of West Des Moines was traveling east near the 114 mile marker of U.S. Interstate 80 when he slowed down because the inside lane of the interstate was shut down and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Matthew Aldrich of Adel. No injuries were reported. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $1,500. Aldrich was issued a citation for following too close.

May 3, 2017

  • Jennifer Fallis of Des Moines was traveling north on First Street in Redfield when she was struck on the driver’s side by a vehicle driven by Rebecca Jones of Stuart. Jones reported the brakes went out in her car, causing her to run the stop sign. After striking Fallis’s vehicle, Jones’ vehicle then collided with two vehicles parked in the Dairy Shoppe parking lot in Redfield, one owned by a Sand party and the second by a Meyers party. Damage to Jones’ vehicle was estimated at $5,000. Damage to Fallis’ vehicle was estimated at $8,000. Damage to Sand’s parked vehicle was estimated at $4,000, and damage to Meyers’ parked vehicle was estimated at $1,000. Jones was issued a citation for failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way.
