August 27, 2020

  • Karla Ceniceros of Des Moines was traveling southbound in the 15500 block of L Avenue when she swerved to miss a raccoon in the roadway, and her vehicle entered the ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $4,000.

September 4, 2020

  • Connie J. Emgarten, 51, of 802 Baker St., Casey, was cited and released for driving while barred, driving while license denied or revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia, open container and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
  • Zechariah Smith of Perry was traveling northbound on N Avenue and stopped at the four-way stop at the intersection of 240th Street and N Avenue. Smith’s vehicle entered the intersection at the same time as a vehicle driven by Ronald Cochran of Redfield, and Smith was unable to stop and hit Cochran’s car with his motorcycle. No injuries were reported. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $2,000. Cochran was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.

September 5, 2020

  • Brenda J. Kennedy, 49, of 405 16th St. N., Grand Junction, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear for pretrial conference on an original charge of fourth-degree theft.

September 6, 2020

  • Alejandro Perez Lazaro, 28, of 611 Maverick Lane, Madrid, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
  • David Hunt, 58, of 6600 Vista Dr., West Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for second-offense OWI.
  • Melissa Borgeson of Jamaica was traveling northbound in the 22000 block of N Avenue when her vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to Borgeson’s vehicle was estimated at $6,000.

September 7, 2020

  • Roy Kliewer of Perry was traveling northbound on J Avenue near the K Trail when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

September 8, 2020

  • Lindsey Brix of Davenport was traveling eastbound on U.S. Interstate 80 during a rainstorm when she lost control of her vehicle and hit the cable barrier, damaging the cable barrier and several support poles. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $15,000. Brix was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
