Breeya Lynn Moritz, 20, of Granger was arrested Sunday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Granger woman was arrested for assault Sunday after allegedly punching and pushing her mother in a dispute over a cell phone.

Breeya Lynn Moritz, 20, of 2205 Court St., Granger, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Court Street in Granger, where an officer of the Granger Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officer made contact with Moritz, who allegedly admitted “that she punched her mother in the face and that she pushed her down to the ground as well,” according to court records.

Moritz told the officer that she took these actions because “she was mad at her mother because she would not give her the password to the phone,” according to court records.

The victim confirmed Moritz’s account. The officer observed on the victim “a red mark on her nose, and her nose appeared to be swelling from the hit to her face,” according to court records.

Moritz was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 9 in Dallas County District Court.
