Donnell Wardell Guidar, 32, of De Soto was arrested Wednesday on charges of third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault and child endangerment.

A De Soto man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly punched a De Soto woman in the face as she sat next to her 3-year-old.

Donnell Wardell Guidar, 32, of 600 Polk St., DeSoto, was charged with third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault and child endangerment.

The incident began about 1:45 a.m. in the 600 block of Polk Maple Street in De Soto, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The deputies made contact with the female victim, who said that Guidar “got in her face” during the course of a domestic dispute, eventually “punching her in the left eye with the closed fist of his right hand,” according to court records.

The deputies observed on the victim “a visible red mark, abrasions and a contusion forming around her left eye,” according to court records.

The victim’s 3-year-old child was sitting next to her at the time of the alleged assault.

Guidar left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement but was later taken into custody.

Guidar is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 10 in Dallas County District Court.

Guidar was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2010 in O’Brien County District Court. He was convicted of second-offense domestic abuse assault in 2020 in O’Brien County District Court.
