Deloris Blanchard, 90, of Perry passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 8 from 2-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Memorials will be given to Perry Public Library and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Deloris Maxine Blanchard was born May 15, 1926 in Melcher, Iowa, to Bryan Jennings and Della Onita (Sells) VanDerHorst.

She graduated from North High School in Des Moines.

Deloris was united in marriage to Carl Blanchard Aug. 14, 1948.

She worked at Equitable in Des Moines, Bright and White Laundry, the school lunch program and Virginia’s Ready to Wear in Perry.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Deloris enjoyed reading, playing cards and making desserts and peanut brittle, which she delivered to friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Blanchard; and her parents, Bryan and Della VanDerHorst.

Deloris is survived by her children, Chris (Mary) Blanchard of Robins, Iowa, and Sheri (David) Luett of Perry; four grandchildren, Ben (Stephanie) Blanchard of Washington, Iowa, Trisha (Jeremy) Main of St. Louis, Mo., Kimberly (Dan) Studer of Milford, Iowa, and Nick (Kelly Gates) Luett of Waukee; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill VanDerHorst of New Orleans, La.
